NomadsFix

We are Benedicte (Bene) & Guillaume (Guilly), a French Australian couple with a shared passion for traveling the world.

Both French-born and bred, we’ve lived together in three different countries, across three continents: France, Canada, and finally Australia which became our home in 2008.

After traveling to over 20 countries together, and years of contemplating the idea of going on a round the world trip, we finally left our comfortable lives and made the jump in July 2019 and travelled full-time for almost 3 years.

…And NomadsFix was born.

NomadsFix is our attempt to share with you authentic travel experiences to inspire you to, in turn, take the leap and go explore what our beautiful world has to offer.

No fluff travel” is our motto and we abide by the following principles:

  • No imaginary landscapes – no heavily photoshopped landscapes that would disappoint you when you get there to see the reality.
  • No weather hacks – if the sky is grey, then you’ll see it grey, there is beauty in all situations and seasons.
  • No ridiculous long dresses – we don’t hike with cocktail dresses or smart shirts, so you won’t see outfits you would never bring on a road trip.
  • No unrealistic itineraries – no fluff invented travel itineraries, we’ve done them, you can too!
  • No lies – if we disliked some tourist attraction, you will know about it. No reason to embellish reality and make you believe life is always perfect. It isn’t. Even when traveling.

Meet Bene

Traveling seems to have always been in my genes; my parents themselves have always been keen budget travelers. I still remember that year when we toured Ireland, my parents, my sisters and I in the family Renault Space as a campervan!

Funnily enough though, when the time came for me to leave the nest, and I had to move 300kms away to study, I was terrified! How would I survive?

This was the starting point of my travel journey! After two years of living a crazily fun student life in Bayonne, France, I took on the challenge to study for a year abroad. So I moved to Limerick in Ireland where I would finally learn to speak English and complete my Computer Science Bachelor with honors!

The travel bug has never left me since and took Guilly and I to work in Montreal for a few months before moving to settle in Australia. We’ve since used all our annual leave days every year to travel, nothing else!

I’m very organized and I like to have a plan/know the plan when I travel. I was told many times to change career to become a travel agent or event organizer.

However, outside of our travel bubble, I am a passionate and accomplished Digital Transformation & Product Management Leader, a field I’ve loved working in for over 10 years, centered around customer experience.

My biggest challenge while traveling is to learn to let go and accept that the plan will change all the time! So Guilly is my rock to help me balance the act!

Meet Guilly

I’m the alien in my immediate family when it comes to traveling!

I mostly traveled domestically in France when younger but somehow still replied I wanted to be a “travel destination tester” when older when being asked. In my mind, this was the person testing exotic travel packages that travel agents would put together to validate actual customers would enjoy the sights, experiences, accommodation, and food.

As soon as I turned 18, my driver’s license, and therefore my independence, my best friend and I started traveling to a new destination every summer holiday with very little planning and care for health or safety (to the despair of my parents!). This was the start of my eternal wanderlust!

After traveling to over 40 countries, including over 30 with Bene, I have become a wiser seasoned traveler. Long is gone the time I traveled to Mali and got myself a stomach worm, dehydration, and a loss of 10kg!

In “real” life, I’m a passionate Software Engineering Leader who loves fostering high performing teams, coaching individuals, and get them to realize their full potential.

In our travels, I’m definitely the calm and worry-free person in the couple. Sometimes too much? So, Bene is my rock to help me balance the act!
